Mixed Messages and the Tigers’ Bullying Scandal

The Tigers drama continues, and Kenty is joined by NRLW star Jada Taylor to break down today’s explosive press conference. As the club attempts to backtrack on its harsh treatment of Lachlan Galvin, Kent exposes what he calls "petulance" from the senior leadership and "rookie problems" from coach Benji Marshall.
A "Croc of Shit" and Emotional Control
The episode focuses on the contradictory messages coming out of Concord. While Benji Marshall called for the media to "lay off" the 19-year-old, Kent argues the club’s own actions fuelled the fire. He specifically targets Jarome Luai’s explanation for inflammatory social media posts.
"Jarome Luai came out today and he said that yeah that was just them supporting a coach. That is the greatest croc of shit you've ever heard. Okay, these are players... Benji tried to... play it off his way to say look it was an emotional response from his players. Well that might be the case... but... if you play any sport and particularly team sport you have to be emotionally in control don't you?" Kent said.
Kent notes that this lack of control from senior players sets a dangerous precedent for the club's culture.
"If you can hold your head pretty cool when you're getting dumped on your head on the field you should be able to think twice before putting a social media post up. And I think it's really concerning that it's come from their more senior players," Taylor added.
Management by Preemptive Strike
Kent dissects the Tigers' strategy since Galvin announced he wouldn't re-sign beyond 2026. He describes the club’s initial statement as a deliberate attempt to turn the fan base against a local junior.
"It began with a statement on Monday that Locky Galvin had rejected the biggest offer in club... for a local junior in club history. Now that's an emotional statement to make. It wasn't just purely factual... it was an emotional statement to make. It was designed to win favour I think with Tigers fans and to... basically colour... Galvin in a certain light," Kent said.
He highlights the absurdity of dropping a player who had just earned maximum Dally M points.
"Nothing makes sense to drop a guy who is in a key position for the club, drop him to reserve grade when he just pulled three Dally M points the week before. He's done in my opinion done nothing wrong. He's allowed to leave the club," Taylor said.
The "Alpha Male" Narrative
Kent addresses reports of friction between Galvin and new signing Jarome Luai, suggesting that if there were issues, they should have been handled internally by the coaching staff rather than leaked to the press.
"Luai came in as the... the chief playmaker and sort of put his stamp on as... the alpha male in the... group and Galvin didn't handle it that well... that's the coaching staff's job to fix that, to recognise that... That's their job isn't it?" Kent said.
He warns that the current "catastrophe" will make the Tigers a "stain on the club" for any young talent considering signing there in the future.
"What young kid coming through with the Tigers now, what does he think? Exactly, and... you've hit the nail on the head right through from all their junior reps pathways... No young guy wants to go through that again," Taylor said.
The Legal Reality of Reserve Grade
Responding to fan comments, Kent clarified the legal protections for players regarding selection, noting that the RLPA has strict rules against using reserve grade as a tool for punishment.
"As opposed to saying it's not illegal to send a player to reserve grade—it is. If you're punishing a player for something like this... You can't punish a player because he signed at another club and just put him in reserve grade... The player association have clear rules. You must be picked on merit," Kent said.
